The Importance of Social Networking

Just 2 days ago I learned how great sites like Twitter can be to my business. Almost everyday, I find in my email box that new people are following me. About 90% are spammers following everyone they can to promote their “hope in a box” products that promise to make me rich with little work involved. No thanks, I just hit the block button on those people, I don’t even want them to be able to follow my conversations.
However, I saw @wholesaler decided to follow me. Now his following/followers ratio was kinda high, but one of his posts with a link caught my attention and after reading his blog post, I decided he was just “one of us” trying to make some dollars on the interwebs.
I struck up a little conversation with him on Twitter and Hydra Networks came up and I told him about my “dipleasure” with Hydra and pointed him here to my blog to read. After reading, he tweeted me and said that if I would give him my info, he would ask his manager at Hydra about getting me in and by the next day I had an email welcoming me to Hydra. I have to say that once again, my affiliate manager, Patrick, is more than helpful and has even got me a banner I needed.
I know I said that I wouldn’t do business with Hydra Networks, but- this is business, I kinda made it personal. Had I been given a real reason (instead of the generic- We have decide to decline your app) for not being accepted when I applied, I could live with it. My whole problem was with the customer service. So, once again, I have bitten the bullet and gotten own to business.
So, I’m sure most of you reading this already know, but the relationships that you build on social networks(Twitter, Friendfeed, Facebook, etc) can directly influence your business.

absolutely. I have learned from social media (found your blog via twitter), I have earned from Social Media (more visits to my blog = more people interested in me = more money), I have networked from social media -(found out about a local event and have met tons of local marketers), and I received an investment for a website I have been dreaming about doing via social media, and I know the best is yet to come.. due to social media!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for commenting Andrea. It's funny, a few months ago, I thought Twitter was just silly, but it really is an amazing tool.
