Back Monetizing Traffic with magicJack
In an earlier post I wrote about the problems I was having dealing with the magicJack affiliate program. After discussing the matter with Jim Donlon, magicJack LP’s CMO, things actually got resolved, sort of. The problem I was having was communication’s from the merchant weren’t making it down the chain “intact” to Motive Interactive.
The problem, it seems is that Motive is actually the 3rd party in this chain and they don’t even seem to have a clear set of rules for this offer. So, after a couple of weeks of watching the traffic I had coming from organic search not being monetized, I decided to change the domain name (to comply with Trademark laws) and 301 the old site to the new URL. Even if I only pull in $25-$50 a day, thats still extra money that I can be using to invest in my other campaigns.
I think a lot of this could be avoided if Motive would publish a set or terms and conditions for their affiliates and also a seperate set for each offer. If you look at any offer on CJ, you will find a comprehensive set of terms and conditions for each merchant. Such as rules for Trademark bidding, keywords, etc.. Motive does not have that and actually Motive’s user CP just plain sucks compared to other networks.
Also, I still have to say that some of the problem is with magicJack not managing their online marketing efforts properly. Hopefully the problems I have had and the communications between myself and magicJack will help remedy the situation for future affiliates.
I personally have had no problems using the device, although I have still not tried uninstalling the software which is a concern that I have. If a person can’t easily uninstall the magicJack, then this is a problem that the company must address.
