I want to apologize to my subscribers.  It’s been a few months since I have written anything here.   The last couple months of 2008 were pretty stressful on me and I completely got away from affiliate marketing until about 2 weeks ago.

Now that I have gotten back into the game,  I have cut down on the information on affiliate marketing that I consume.

I am no longer using my time trying to learn everyone’s way of doing ppc and affiliate marketing.  Instead, I’m using that time to jump in and get my feet dirty while learning from experience and using what I learned from The Black Ink Project.

Also,  I’m participating in The Cashtactics forum.

Ok, so we told you we had some good things in store for you. Well, here is one. We have decided to help our readers and anyone else who is interested in learning how to build a profitable online PPC business (or to help you expand your current one) and we will do it for FREE! You will not pay us a penny! Of course there are requirements and let me explain the only way we are capable of doing this. There has to be a way for us, Kris and I, to be rewarded for the huge amount of time involved from answering questions one on one. So here is how it works.

Basically, the requirements are as follows:

1. Create an account on Market Leverage (from the link on their post).  This requirement was to sign up at Convert2Media, however the response was so great, that they started sending new signups to Market Leverage instead.
2. Watch all of the video’s in the Cashtactics PPC Case Study.  This will cut down on questions being asked in the forums.  The video’s answer a lot.
3. Maintain $20 per month gross revenue in whichever network you signed up in using Cashtactics links.  This helps weed out those who are less serious.  I have already satisfied this months requirements, so it doesn’t take much to meet this requirement.

What I Learned About Affiliate Marketing in 2008

I actually learned a multitude of topics from The Black Ink Project.  Of course I learned affiliate marketing pretty much from A to Z.  However,  I also learned alot about design and coding from Jeremy Palmer.  He is the creator of The BIP.  I’m even able to edit php pretty well now, and with the tips he gave, html/css is pretty natural to me now.

Really though,  more important lessons I learned were that you can sign up for as many courses, buy as many books as you want or buy as many tools as you can afford.  However, none of them are going to help you if you are willing to put in hard work.  Affiliate marketing is not easy!  It may get easier once you learn the ropes, but in the beginning, be prepared to put in long hours.

Tim from WorkPlusFaith tried to tell me this, but I think he put it a little too nicely:)  You just have to get in there and get your feet wet or you will never be able to take advantage of whatever courses you may be a part of.

Not being willing to put in the work is what got me nowhere last year.  The main part of this laziness was with doing keyword research.  There are plenty of tools out there now to help you spy on and steal other sites keywords.  However, just copying and pasting keywords into your campaign is not an option.  Keyword research is boring, tedious, repetitive work, but is also the basis of all your campaigns.  Without a properly researched keyword list, your campaign won’t have much hope.
