affiliate networks

I just wanted to do a quick rant before I try to get some sleep. I think I’ve slept about 10-12 hours in the last 3 days. Thats a good thing though. I’m finding the energy to get up every morning whether I have to or not now because I’m so driven and excited about affiliate marketing.

My main reason for this post was again to complain about Hydra Network denying my application. On top of being denied, I wasn’t even given a reason for it. Although, it’s because I’m new, but the level of professionalism that I have seen from the other networks was not shown to me in the two phone calls I made to Hydra.

Also, I was told that I was sent an email that I never received, yet I have received every other email at the same address for the last week. Maybe it is for the best, that I wasn’t approved. I just read a review giving a few reasons why Hydra isn’t good for new affiliates. I’m still shocked however, because I applied with a specific offer that I wanted to promote in my application and with a site matching that offer 100%.

So, even though I am new, I think I had a good reason for them to approve my application. Maybe I should have lied to them?

Speaking of the truth, I have been honest with every other account manager that has called me for an interview…. and I have been approved for them 100%!

Speaking of the other networks, I want to give my opinion on a couple of affiliate managers that I have talked to and that have been quite helpful already… AND professional.

Ryan Berger at Motive Interactive. Ryan has been helpful since day one, yet still gives me some time to get my bearings. I have talked to him twice and it has been more like talking to a distant friend than a business acquaintance.

Mike Kelly at Market Leverage (disclaimer: affiliate link)

I called Mike earlier this evening, just after I got his email introducing himself. I told him that I was new and of my plans for the next couple months. I also told him the story of Hydra and he was shocked that they denied me, given the information I gave when I applied to their network. He forwarded on the information about the product I wanted to promote to his “research” department, maybe I will end up working my first niche after all. Just after this call, mike emailed me to inform me that he had looked at this blog and that my first promotion should be promoting ML itself.  I had already done placed the banner by the time I got the email, but I was impressed that he took the time to look.

Lastly I want to say that I got the same “service” Scott Bain at NeverblueAds .  After I told him how beat I was, he even offered to call me back tomorro.

I’m sure these guys are just doing their jobs and if I assume right, they get paid when I convert.  Even so, SOME people do their jobs better than others.

  1. Hey, Brian.

Try not to let the Hydra Network thing eat at you. I totally understand your frustration, but you don’t want to burn any bridges. Who knows, maybe you will build a good relationship with them in the future. They have a ton of offers, and so far they’ve been really cool to work with.

Anyway, good to see you moving forward on your campaigns and I’m sure you’ll hit success!

    Tim
